The Corporate Portrait process explained...

I appreciate you are busy so the vast majority of Corporate work I shoot is on location. Your location! This means you can organise staff photo shoot timings to the minute so productivity is not too interrupted. Prior to the shoot I will visit your premises to consult with you about the photo style to ensure the portraits will suit your corporate branding and usage requirements. I will also decide upon the most suitable area for the shoot to take place and what lighting needs are required. I will arrive one hour before the shoot to set up for an efficient and fun shoot. Why fun? I aim to make the shoot as relaxed and carefree as possible to get the best out of each client.

Are you and your staff 'Portrait ready'?

Everybody wants to look their best on the day so here are some quick common sense tips to ensure a great outcome...

Clothing

Your Corporate image is conveyed primarily by your Clothing, therefore your choices should be inline with your corporate objectives. A stylish suit and tie will convey a public image of quality, power and reliability but would perhaps not be so convincing if you were a Mechanic! If several staff are being photographed then image consistency across the group is also a worthwhile consideration.

Combinations, such as a dark jacket, white shirt and bold tie work well for the gent's and a scarf or accessories work well for the ladies. Clothing of course looks best freshly ironed and Pastels and busy patterns are best avoided.

Hair

Hair, particularly for the ladies, is one of the most important things to prepare for a good portrait outcome. Freshly styled hair is a big advantage. Most gals don't need to be told that and for the gents a recent haircut, and freshly shaven/trimmed appearance is also a good idea.

Makeup – Skin

Makeup is important for women, and most women know what best suits them. However you may choose to have professional makeup applied for the shoot. Your local salon will usually provide services for both hair and makeup preparation should you require a highly professional look. Matte makeup generally delivers the best results.

Corporate Portrait Retouching

I retouch all corporate portraits to some degree to produce a flattering result. A little whitening of the eyes and teeth, blemish removal and general sharpening will help your portraits stand out from the rest!

Location Requirements

A medium sized room is usually adequate. I often shoot in boardrooms, and can shoot across the top of a boardroom table if required. Occasionally items of furniture may need be moved to make space for the client being photographed but I always leave it as found.

Final Proofing and Image Selection

If the shots are required urgently they can be proofed for final selection on the spot. The chosen image(s) will then be retouched and emailed later the same day. Generally after the shoot clients use my web gallery to choose their final images for retouching. Once I receive the choices, it will take one to two days to finalise the retouching and return the images electronically, or on disc.
